Alexander McQueen

Alexander McQueen is a British luxury brand founded by himself as a designer in 1992. It is characterised by unconstrained creation, innovative and uncompromising expression. Based on the idea that two opposing elements - strength and fragility, light and darkness, innovation and tradition - are side by side, the brand expresses elegance in a rebellion against formality. His dramatic designs received numerous accolades and had clients with avant-garde fashion styles, including Björk and Lady Gaga, as well as being named British Designer of the Year on four occasions. A retrospective exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (N.Y.) following the designer's death in 2010 was a huge success, attracting a record 620,000 visitors. Today, the brand continues to be a leading British brand, with designers Sarah Burton and Seán McGirr taking over.
