DESIGNER

Raf Simons

Raf Simons was born in Genk, Belgium in 1968. After working as an interior designer, he became a fashion designer after seeing the collections of Martin Margiela and began teaching himself how to make clothes. In 1995, he founded his own brand, which he continued to design until it closed in 2022. Raf Simons's designs are traditional and classically tailored, but are also strongly influenced by music and youth culture, such as punk and new wave, and he incorporates strong street and underground culture into his mode, using patchwork, prints, and batches. The brand's progressive and artistic designs are more artistic than fashionable, and its innovative creations, which are far from conventional, still attract tremendous support from fans all over the world. He has worked as a designer for such prestigious fashion brands as Jil Sander, Dior, and Calvin Klein. He is currently the creative director of Prada.
