”mind-blowing”
Shop rin art association is pleased to present the fashion exhibition “mind-blowing.”
People live in environments where they interact with various others, and each environment possesses its own unique code. “Mind-blowing” carries the meaning of “an overwhelming shock that blows one's mind away,” as well as “causing confusion.”
When one does not align with a certain environmental code, or when one must inevitably conform to it, people experience confusion because their own thinking becomes strained. This exhibition deliberately aims to deviate from these environmental codes, adopting a “de-coded” approach.
What emerges is nonsense, born from the extreme expression of irony and humor.
Understanding nonsense is understanding the ordinary, and it connects to the attempt to explore the threshold of the “extreme form.”
A new sensation born from intentionally derailing and confusing one's own thoughts. Beyond fear and anxiety may lie ultimate pleasure.
Emotion arises when a fixed mind is moved. This exhibition is structured to alternate between unease and reassurance.
In the dimly lit basement floor, illuminated by candles, a model lies on a bed. The other models, adorned in bewitchingly beautiful garments and face masks, line up around the bed, observing the model upon it. And the model on the bed...
On the first floor, we host a sales event where you can purchase a diverse array of clothing: garments hailed as historical masterpieces, everyday prêt-à-porter, artisan brands, anonymous vintage pieces, and even old lady’s underwear.
Ascending the stairs to the second floor reveals a fashion tree composed of diverse garments. It possesses an uncanny quality while adorned with various concepts like Christmas ornaments. Though taking a form entirely different from minimalism, what appears there might be the ideal human form.
We hope this exhibition becomes a powerful wind that stirs your hearts. Also, we would be honored if it provides an opportunity to contemplate fashion's true role and essence while viewing the works.
